Mobile health or e-Health is a component of e-Health. To date, no standardised definition has been established. The Global Observatory for e-Health (GOe) has defined mHealth as medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices, such as mobile phones, patient monitoring devices, personal digital assistant (PDAs), and other wireless devices. Another definition is that offered by Istepanian Lacal who views mHealth as broadly encompassing health-related uses of mobile telecommunication and multimedia technologies within health service delivery and public health systems. The two definitions show unanimity on certain basic notions, namely the deployment of information and communication technologies (ICT) to health service and public health systems.
